Lee School Dances

For the last few years, Lee Expressive Arts Elementary School in Columbia, Missouri, has joined  with MMTD to host family dances for children and their favorite grownups! We hope you can join us for one or more dances this  school year. Dances are open to the public.

Dances are held on Sunday afternoons from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. at Lee School, 1208 Locust Street, Columbia, Missouri. Suggested donation $5 per family gratefully accepted to help pay the band and caller.

2011-2012 Schedule

  • November 6, 2011—This dance will be geared toward 2nd and 3rd graders, but all ages are welcome. Krishna Fogle will be teaching and calling some easy-to-learn dances that are fun for the whole family. Music will be provided by Paul Fotsch on fiddle, Kathy Gordon on bass, Heinrich Leonhard on guitar, and Jim Thaxter on banjo.
  • January 22, 2012 (geared toward 4th and 5th graders)
  • March 18, 2012 (all ages)

A caller will lead you through easy-to-learn traditional dances like the ones people did back on the farm in the “olden days.” Live, toe-tapping music provided by local musicians and refreshments served during breaks, while you catch your breath. Geared toward children five and older.
