Big Muddy Folk Festival, April 1-2

This weekend is the 25th Anniversary Big Muddy Folk Festival on Main and Vine in Boonville, Missouri.  The festival opens at 7:00 p.m. on Friday with a concert at Thespian Hall, featuring Ron Wall, Phyllis Dale, Bob Shad and Jazzou Jones, Leela and Ellie Grace, and One Drum. After the concert, everyone is invited to go across the street to Turner Hall for an old-time dance with calling by Jim Thaxter.

Saturday night’s concert also starts at 7:00 pm and features Cathy Barton and Dave Para with Snorty Horse, Lou and Peter Berryman, Anne Hills, and the Bar D Wranglers.

Saturday workshops begin at 9:30 a.m. and continue through the day. There will be many workshops to choose from – including clogging and body percussion and old time jams!  Click here for a complete schedule of the festival and workshop descriptions.

Tickets are $25 each night and $45 for the weekend.  Workshops are included with single or weekend tickets.  Or you can buy a workshop pass for $5.00.  Tickets can be ordered online or call the box office at 660-882-7977 or 888-588-1477 M-F, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

When you get hungry you can enjoy Terry Smith’s famous barbecue served at Turner Hall each day from 11 am – 9 pm.  The Friends of Historic Boonville board of directors sponsors the food event which raises funds to support the Friends’ general operations.
