Annual Watermelon Dance – Friday, July 21

Come join us for our annual Watermelon Dance this Friday, July 21! This is also our last Friday night dance until Fall, so you don’t want to miss it!  This is also our last dance at the Ballroom Academy. We will be moving to a location nearby in the fall.

We’re lucky to have one of our favorite local bands, River Ridge String Band, playing for us,  with Cliff White on hammered dulcimer, Molly White on mandolin, Ted Koenig  on guitar, and John Cunning on banjo and percussion.

Our caller for the night will be our own Claire Baffaut. It’s sure to be a night of fun dances!

Our Annual Meeting to elect the board will take place during the break. And watermelon will be served outside after the meeting.

Hope to see you there!

DANCE TIMES AND COST

Dances are from 7:30–10:30 pm (beginners’ lesson at 7:00). No partner is necessary! Most of us switch partners with every dance and experienced dancers are more than happy to dance with new-comers to help them get the hang of it.

Admission $8.00 ($5.00 for ages 16–25 or with student ID; free for children 15 and under).

DANCE LOCATION & DETAILS

Dances are held at The Ballroom Academy of Columbia at 3910 Peachtree Drive in the same plaza as the French Laundry (behind Arby’s) and faces Monterey Drive.   For directions and a map go to: https://mmtdcolumbia.org/location/

Important Note – Please wear soft-soled or leather-soled shoes to preserve the floor. (No spike heels or cowboy boots.) Please carry-in appropriate dance shoes as needed.

The BAC has an endless water dispenser with paper cups, but we encourage you to bring a water bottle.
